Layout Options
Nothing is more important than layout. For our completed vans we have two core layout options available, refined over several years of full time van living. Talk to us about your options and why we think these two layouts offer the most practical and efficient use of space possible.
Base Vans
We generally recommend Sevel Group vans, such as the Peugeot Boxer, Citroen Relay and Fiat Ducato. There are several reasons why these are the most popular base van choice. They are a pleasure to drive with most models offering driving comforts such as air-con, cruise control and great all round visibility.
These vans have a lower kerbweight than similar alternatives, the shape of the van does not taper towards the back (which allows a full size double bed to fit width ways across the rear) and they have the handbrake on the outside of the drivers seat (which makes it easier to swivel the front captains seats and create a dining area up front).
L3
At 6.36 m long the L4 is the longest configuration Peugeot, Citroen and Fiat offer. Despite its length the van is extremely easy to manoeuvre and can be driven on a standard UK licence. The extra length of the L4 over the L3 allows enough space for a washroom inside the vehicle with shower and toilet. The extra length also accommodates larger water tanks and more storage space.
L3
The most common length and in our opinion the best balance of size and manoeuvrability. At 6 m in length the L3 is still extremely spacious with plenty of space for a fixed king size rear bed, fully equipped kitchen with large worktops and a front seating and dining area.
For this length of van we recommend an outdoor shower attached to the rear doors in order to fully utilise the space available internally. Feel free to talk to us about our own experience living and travelling with this set up and why we think this is the best option for most people.
